CPR, First Aid, Safety and Merit Badge Support for Scouting America
East Coast Safety Consulting provides hands-on CPR, First Aid, emergency-response, public-safety, investigation, and digital-safety training for Scouting America troops, Scouts BSA units, leaders, and other youth organizations.
Depending on the troop’s goals, programs can support work toward Scouting America merit badges involving First Aid, Emergency Preparedness, Crime Prevention, Fingerprinting, Safety, Traffic Safety, Cybersecurity, Law, Search and Rescue, Wilderness Survival, Public Health, Digital Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and related subjects.
Troops may choose formal American Heart Association certification, lower-cost non-certification CPR training, or customized workshops led by experienced safety instructors and a retired police lieutenant with 29 years of law-enforcement experience.
In addition, group discounts are available for private troop programs, multi-unit events, and larger Scouting organizations.
Training Can Support Merit Badge Requirements
Many East Coast Safety Consulting programs overlap with skills, demonstrations, discussions, and learning activities contained in current Scouting America merit badge requirements.
However, taking one of our courses does not automatically earn or complete a merit badge. Scouts should work with their unit and an approved Scouting America Merit Badge Counselor to determine which requirements have been completed and which additional requirements remain.
Because merit badge requirements may change, troops should always confirm the current requirements through Scouting America’s official Merit Badge Hub before scheduling a program.
Merit Badges Our Programs Can Help Support
Several Scouting America merit badges have particularly strong overlap with CPR, First Aid, emergency preparedness, public safety, law enforcement, and investigation training already available through East Coast Safety Consulting.

Cybersecurity, Digital Technology and AI Workshops
Modern Scouting includes several technology-focused merit badges. East Coast Safety Consulting can support the safety, cybercrime, privacy, scam-prevention, investigative, and ethical portions of these subjects.
Digital-Safety Topics We Can Teach
Workshops can address passwords, privacy, digital footprints, phishing, scams, social media, cyberbullying, online predators, suspicious messages, identity theft, digital evidence, misinformation, deepfakes, and responsible use of emerging technology.
Cybersecurity Merit Badge
Cybersecurity workshops can support online-safety, threat awareness, privacy, password security, scams, phishing, and cybercrime-related requirements.
More technical requirements involving computer systems or networking may require additional instruction from an appropriately qualified technology specialist.
Digital Technology Merit Badge
Digital-safety workshops can reinforce responsible technology use, privacy, digital communication, online risk awareness, and safe handling of personal information.
Artificial Intelligence Merit Badge
Customized workshops can explore AI-related safety issues including deepfakes, scams, misinformation, privacy, responsible use, investigative challenges, and ethical concerns.
Technical AI requirements may need supplemental instruction beyond the public-safety portion of the workshop.
Public Safety Experience in the Classroom
Peter Magnani combines decades of CPR, First Aid, emergency-response, and safety instruction with a 29-year career in law enforcement.
Because of this combination, Scout programs can connect merit badge concepts to real emergency response, investigations, law enforcement, traffic safety, emergency planning, and community safety.
Most importantly, programs can be adapted to the troop’s age, experience, goals, and desired subject matter while remaining practical and appropriate for youth participants.
Private Troop, District and Council Training
Scouting groups can arrange private programs rather than registering Scouts individually for public classes. Discounted group pricing may be available based on the course, number of participants, location, certification requirements, equipment, and instructor availability.
Individual Troops
Schedule training around your troop’s First Aid, CPR, safety, investigation, cybersecurity, or merit badge objectives.
Multi-Troop Events
Combining several troops can create an efficient merit badge or safety-training event while reducing per-person training costs.
District or Council Events
Larger events can include multiple stations, subjects, grade levels, or training tracks based on instructor and equipment availability.
Always Check Current Merit Badge Requirements
Scouting America periodically updates merit badge requirements and program materials. Therefore, Scouts, leaders, and counselors should use the official Scouting America Merit Badge Hub as the current source for advancement requirements.
East Coast Safety Consulting can review the troop’s desired merit badge before a private program and tailor instruction around relevant requirements whenever practical.
Independent Training Provider and Merit Badge Counselor Notice
East Coast Safety Consulting is an independent training provider and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Scouting America or a local council unless specifically stated for an individual event.
Scouting America merit badge names are referenced only to identify areas where our education and training may support advancement work. East Coast Safety Consulting does not independently award Scouting America merit badges.
Official merit badge counseling and verification must follow current Scouting America advancement policies. Unless an instructor is separately registered and approved as a Merit Badge Counselor for the applicable badge, course completion should be presented to the Scout’s approved counselor for evaluation and official sign-off.
