According to LifeVac’s FDA authorization, the device is intended for adult and pediatric choking victims at least one year of age experiencing complete airway obstruction. It is intended as a second-line treatment after unsuccessful use of a basic life support choking protocol.
LifeVac states that the device may be administered by a layperson or medical professional age 18 or older in settings including homes, nursing homes, restaurants and schools.
