Written procedures • Clear responsibilities

Emergency Action Plan Development & Review

Give your team a plan they can use.

Help employees and volunteers understand who to contact, where to go, and what their responsibilities are during an emergency. ECSC assists organizations with practical emergency action plan development, review, and staff orientation.

Practical support for your organization

Build the plan around your people and property.

A generic document may leave important questions unanswered. We discuss your facility, routines, contacts, and existing procedures, then help organize the agreed information into a plan your leadership can review and maintain.

Possible project scope

What we can review together

We agree on the specific work before the project begins. Your proposal will identify which elements are included.

Emergency reporting and contacts

Clarify how staff report an emergency and request outside assistance.

Evacuation and accountability

Document agreed routes, assembly arrangements, and accountability roles.

Shelter and communication

Discuss shelter procedures and how instructions reach the people affected.

Assigned responsibilities

Identify leadership, staff, and volunteer roles, including arrangements for people who may need assistance.

Orientation and review

Plan how staff learn the procedures and how the organization keeps information current.

A practical example: For example: an office has an evacuation map but no clear process for checking that visitors have left. The planning project can connect the map with reception responsibilities, accountability, and a staff briefing.

A defined deliverable

Know what to expect.

Your engagement will identify the documents, training, or discussion included. Depending on the scope, deliverables may include:

  • A review of existing procedures and relevant facility information.
  • A written plan or updated sections within the agreed scope.
  • A contact and responsibility framework.
  • A staff orientation, leadership walkthrough, or discussion-based exercise when included.

Ways to work together

Choose the depth of support you need.

Existing-plan review

Examine a current plan and identify unclear or missing elements.

Plan development

Create agreed written procedures from organizational and site information.

Plan & staff orientation

Add a guided introduction or exercise to help the team understand the plan.
